almost hit the timing trailer. was driving my friends frs with all the suspension and 71rs.

Kinja'd!!!

you can see where i should have been stopped is where that fiata is.  i went full send, trying to get into the 31s...i did not.  used to autocrossing my fost the frs was a handful.  And too small.  my knees where up against two hard spots and with the steering wheel fully in and fully up, my hands would hit my knees and the i had the seat quite laid back.  i’m 6’6”.

What kind of monster forces you to run hot autocross tires onto dirt after every run?

Imma be that guy that suggests that if you almost hit the timing trailer, it was a poorly-designed course... especially with gravel right next to the finish...

Imma be that guy that suggest that the stop box is for actually stopping and that this is the result of someone over driving the hell out of a car to the point of forgetting the basics of car control . If I was running the region I’ d ask the driver to spend the next event as a passenger to get some pointers on safe car control.

watched a 911 get air, take out the timing box, and I’m pretty sure ruin some expensive goodies on the undercarriage in an attempt to go full send at the end of an autox track - so it coulda been worse.

How’d the fiata do?

Making an assumption not being able to see the rest of the course, the slide was likely due to a left hander being immediately before the stop box. Seen it happen a few times where people will punt cones after the finish due to losing it in the corner immediately before the beams.

I remember being a total mess the first few rounds out. Shout out to East TN SCCA, arrived really early one day and a seasoned driver took me out in his SUV, slowly drove through pointing things out, gave me some great tips. That’s a cool community and good people.

i mean i won my class and won driver of the year last year. my experience is in fwd. it was a snap oversteer moment that i wasn’t prepared for. i tried a quick blip of the throttle while trail braking to try to get into the finish. i’d certainly take a talking to about car control but don’t deserve to be benched. i had been experiencing issues with my hands hitting my knees all day and maybe  s topped some necessary steering input.  i’m too big for that car and won’t be driving it again.  my built engine comes home next week for my fost.

So you trail braked, taking weight off the rear wheels then slammed the throttle and the car got away from you? How was that an unexpected moment of over steer? Yeah I’ d say you need to learn how to drive a rear wheel drive car before you drive one again in a competitive setting. I n my opinion you’re a liability if you didn’ t realize that your driver inputs would cause the exact results they did.
